Listeria spp. Can be found throughout the environment, and therefore, there is a potential for Listeria contamination in a wide variety of foods. Meat, eggs, chicken, seafood, dairy products and vegetables have all been identified as sources of Listeria outbreaks. The genus Listeria is comprised of six species, with Listeria monocytogenes the only one of the six that causes human illness.

Neogen’s ANSR® test for Listeria monocytogenes utilizes patented, unique amplification reaction technology for in vitro DNA amplification. ANSR’s amplification methodology exponentially amplifies the DNA of any target bacteria present in enriched food or environmental samples to detectable levels in only minutes.

The DSX Platform is a fully automated four-plate processing system capable of simultaneously performing extremely specific assays for E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella, Listeria, and L. monocytogenes.
