Neogen provides contract laboratory services for food allergens, speciation, norovirus, shellfish toxins, mycotoxins and GMOs. Testing services may vary between our locations in the United States and Europe. Please contact Neogen to ensure testing availability and for sample submission guidance.
A variety of techniques are available to suit testing requirements and timescales, including qualitative and quantitative PCR analysis, ELISA, HPLC and LCMS. Our continual investment in new technologies ensures our range of accredited testing addresses existing and emerging requirements, for a fill list of our accredited tests please refer to our schedule. All of our food and feed testing services are carried out by highly trained scientific analysts using sophisticated state-of-the-art equipment.
Ordering your tests and getting samples to Neogen is a quick and easy process. All results are confidential and services are subject to extensive quality control and regular quality assurance.
Speciation testing is carried out using qualitative and quantitative PCR-based techniques to identify a range of animal species in raw or cooked products across a wide variety of food and feed matrices.
Quantitative and Qualitative PCR DNA Analysis
Please contact us to find out more about our range of fish speciation testing
Allergen food testing
Allergen testing is available for the analysis of a wide variety of food matrices, CIP rinse waters and environmental swabs using both ELISA and PCR methods. Our comprehensive range of products and services can help you to control and manage allergens within your manufacturing facility.
Quantitative ELISA Analysis
- Total Milk / Casein / BLG
Environmental Swabbing Kit
We recommend that you contact a Neogen technical representative prior to performing environmental sampling to ensure the appropriate swabs are used for your testing needs.
Competitive direct enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (CD-ELISA) methods are available for a comprehensive range of sample matrices for the detection of mycotoxins.
Quantitative ELISA Analysis
- T-2 / HT-2
We provide screening, identification, threshold and quantitative tests for the analysis of GMOs in food and animal feed. By using the latest PCR analysis techniques we can determine the presence or absence of specific genes found in GMOs.
Marine biotoxin testing
Neogen provides contract laboratory services for amnesic shellfish poisoning (ASP), diarrhetic shellfish poisoning (DSP) and paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP). Shellfish poisoning is caused by a group of toxins elaborated by planktonic algae (dinoflagellates, in most cases) upon which the shellfish feed. The toxins are accumulated and sometimes metabolized by the shellfish.

Shellfish are amongst the food groups that are most often associated with norovirus, which can account for up to 50% of all foodborne outbreaks of gastroenteritis. Neogen’s contract laboratory is able to perform real time RT-PCR testing.
Neogen require a sample submission form to be completed and new customers will be required to complete an account application form.
Same day analysis: Please contact Neogen for availability.
Sample size: Minimum sample weight is dictated by the type of tests required. Samples should be of sufficient number for the test to be representative of the batch they were sampled from. Shellfish samples must be delivered fresh on ice or frozen.
